Tomorrow is the day of parliamentary elections in Estonia. It seems to me to be a turning point in Estonian politics, and I think the turn will be towards positive. I am rooting for Reformierakond to get a lot of votes and seats, but everything is still quite open. On one hand I am happy that I do not have to endure the aggressive advertisement campign, on the other hand I am not able to watch the debates on TV and my following of the elections is somewhat limited to listening to the KUKU radio on the web and reading the online editions of Estonian newspapers.

I hope that the spotlight on politics, both national and international (with the Iraq issue), will make people more interested in it and try to be more involved. It remains to be seen, but it has been estimated that the voter turnout will be significantly better than before. Furthermore I hope that the activism that has been seen all over Europe in large scale protests will also translate into involvement and interest in politics.
